The Symposium Theme
It will focus on the issues of the transnational cooperation on the opening of the Arctic passages, and the mechanicalism building there. There are eight sessions as follows
1. Status Quo and Prospect of the Exploitation of the Arctic Passages;
2. The Opening of the Arctic Passages and the Alter of the Global Energy Supply
3. Global Solutions to the Shipping Specification and the Environment Protection
4. The Geopolitical Significance and the Economic Impact of the Northwest/Northeast/across-Arctic Passages
5. The Climate Change and the Protection of the Indigenous People
6. The Northern Strategy and the Arctic Foreign Policy of the Surround-Arctic Nations
7. The Possible Multilateral Cooperation Framework between/among the Arctic Council and the Non-Arctic Nations
8. The Prospects of China’s Involvement in the Arctic Affairs
Requirements
Paper proposals should include a title, name of author, institutional affiliation, email address, an abstract (300 words) and a brief personal biography (150 words). The proposal should be submitted by 31 August 2013 to Dr. WANG Duanyong (wangduanyong@shisu.edu.cn). Successful applicants will be notified by 15 September 2013 and will be required to send in a completed draft paper (8000-12,000 words) by 15 October 2013. A selection of outstanding conference papers will be published in an edited volume after the event.
Accommodations
Accommodations will be provided for papers contributors from outside Shanghai.
