汪段泳,男,上海外国语大学国际关系与公共事务学院副研究员,中国海外利益研究中心主任,现为乌兹别克斯坦撒马尔罕国立外国语学院孔子学院中方院长。毕业于武汉大学经济系,获经济学博士学位。2007年进入上海外国语大学国际关系与公共事务学院工作。主持国家社科基金、教育部人文社科基金、上海社科规划课题、上海市教委科研创新等多项省部级以上科研项目。

Dr. Wang Duanyong is associate professor at Shanghai International Studies University, China. Prof. Wang received his Ph.D. in Economics from Wuhan University in 2007. He has served in enterprises, universities and think tanks for more than 15 years. His current research focuses on Chinese investment in mining sector and energy sector in sub-Saharan African countries.

In 2008, Dr. Wang founded the Center for Chinese Overseas Interests Studies affiliated to Shanghai International Studies University. Since then, he has been leading a team to conduct research projects on China’s overseas direct investment and protection to China’s overseas citizens. They have been trying to map the detailed distribution of Chinese investment items in selected countries by applying geographic information system (GIS) approaches based on public information and first-hand information collected by themselves. The aim of their workings intends to investigate and analyze the social and environmental implications of those projects to the local communities. In 2011, granted by Boell Foundation, Dr. Wang and his colleague Mr. ZHAO PEI finished a fieldwork on China’s investment in mining sector in Katanga Province, the D.R. Congo.
